We attended the annual LRS Christmas Party last night and we were able to get a few photos before the festivities.
The party was a good time as always. Justin Long performed his Leg Move, and even pulled in an audience member.
My new flash, Canon Speedlite 580EX II, was delivered yesterday so I’m able to get a decent shot of Dozer.

CWLP (City Water, Light & Power for those not from Springfield) was giving tours today of the new coal power plant which is under construction. My parents, Ana and I went and found it to be pretty cool (surprise, surprise!) and I’m glad they opened it up to the public. Construction is supposed to take another two years and it sure would be cool, if doubtful, for them to offer tours of the finished product.
I’ve got a few of the pictures online, feel free to peruse them.
I don’t think they view this, but here’s a funny shot of my parents. Caught mom a little off guard with the camera ๐
F1.4 – a pretty good example of a very shallow depth of field.ย It’s probably around 1″ or so, try doing that with a Point-n-Shoot camera!

I’m bored, so I decided to post a small, 100% crop from my 30D.ย This guy passed us in a semi going the opposite direction on a rural highway, both of us going probably 65 or so.ย This is a testament to the awesome focusing capabilities of the 30D in AI mode.

Yeah, I love my camera.
A few can be found inย this gallery album.ย Here’s one from today: Neo.
Every now and again I add some, so if you’re really bored, check back.

Adobe launched Lightroom in late January of this year. Sometime last year I heard they were working on a photo editing application for photographers but shrugged it off because I had Photoshop Elements and had no need for anything else. With the influx of photos from the new camera, however, I needed something different and turned to a Lightroom demo after seeing the name again on a photography forum.
Let’s see, I downloaded the Lightroom trial (full-featured, 30 day trial) last Sunday afternoon, played around with it for a few hours, and purchased it Monday or Tuesday from Amazon.com. It is a very slick software package.

Well since I’m not tired tonight, I may as well continue my rambling….
Now, on to pictures. First, I take a lot of photos. I mean a whole bunch. For example, on our recent vacation I took nearly 3000. There’s so many that I have to review and change how I handle them.
Pre-DSLR, I would take pictures and upload all of the non-blurry ones to the photo gallery. This worked great because there weren’t ever that many of them (some of you may disagree!), and the picture taking lag time was so great on the PnS that most of the photos ended up being documentary in purpose – recording events with no real creativity. So great, now I have one place for all of my photos to be kept and displayed. This one place was backed up, and life was simple.
