  • Oh the teeth!

    Make it stop!

We don’t see or feel any incoming teeth, but his screams are evidence enough that they’re on their way.

  • David vs. The Supergate V

David thought he could lick his way through the newly installed gate.  Didn’t work so well.

  • Eric vs. The Supergate V

Now that David is quite proficient in crawling all over the place we decided it was time to put up one of the baby shower gifts – the Supergate V.

What makes the Supergate V so unique is its extra wide spanning capabilities, up to 5 feet.   Too bad we have a 6′ doorway!  Upon discovering the gap, I ran out to Baby’s R Us and purchased a second one to cannibilize for parts.

I present the 6′ wide Supergate!

Notice the 5 panels instead of the stock 4.  Nice.

Installation took a while because it is designed to be attached to the wall instead of being held by pressure and friction.   Since this opening isn’t a traditional “doorway”, I had a small problem of baseboard trim to deal with.  To compensate, I had to rip a couple pieces of wood to be 1/2″ thick and attach them to the wall first.

It took a bit longer than I expected when I opened the box up tonight, but it’s done and looks as good as a big gate can look.  No more crawling right into the office!

  • Pillows

    Yay for pillows.

  • 8 Months Old!

With just a few minutes to spare, David is 8 months old!

    View them in Gallery.

It was pretty challenging this time, now that he’s mobile he doesn’t quite sit in one spot very long.  Sure makes lighting difficult 🙂

  • Day at the Fair

Today we had such great weather that we decided to head to the 2008 Illinois State Fair with David.  I figured he would only last a short time before getting tired, but instead he had a blast and we were there for nearly 4 hours.

Click here for a photo tour of his trip!.

  • Random Updates

Here are a few very disconnected thoughts…

Central Illinois is finally receiving its dose of summer heat and misery with high humidity and temperatures in the high nineties.  Just in time for the State Fair too…

Fruit Punch seems to be the most popular Gatorade, although I suspect Ana may have voted more than once…

Here’s the grin David gave Ana last week when she walked into the room after work…

What a great smile to come home to…

David has been doing a pseudo-crawl; we’ve dubbed it the Army Man Scoot.  He’s getting pretty good at it, and can slide across our family room in no time.  Taking advantage of this, I joined him on the floor tonight and had him chasing me around the room.  I’d duck around a corner, let out a growl and he’d “growl” back at me before screaming in laughter when I’d reappear and come after him.  It was a blast…

Ana and David played some more piano tonight…

Jay and Katherine are packing up their house in preparation for moving across town, so we’ve had to do some network reconfiguration.  I’ll no longer need the antenna on my roof, but I’m contemplating replacing it with an external XM Radio antenna…

Speaking of XM, aren’t those things in geosynchronous orbit?  Then why do I have to keep adjusting my XM antenna?

When David gets tired of scooting, this happens…

That looks pretty good, I’m heading to bed…

  • A Photo of David for Mommy

Ana, here’s your reward for reading the Olympics post.

  • Eat the Shark!

A couple of weekends ago we took David for his second time swimming.  I think he was less of a fan than the first time!

  • Weekend Photos

Today was absolutely miserable outside.  I was working in the garage on my latest building project and the air was so think it felt like you could swim in it.  I’m building a utility box/cabinet of sorts to go out by the garden for Ana, and since it’s fairly large I can’t do much of the construction in the nice and cool basement.  I’ll have some pictures of that soon.

The rest of the day and evening was spent playing with David and, of course, taking some pictures.
