  • Back to the Zoo

On short notice, we decided to take a day trip to St. Louis today. When we first woke up this morning the weather didn’t look favorable, at 7am St. Louis was showing 94%+ humidity, so we figured we would just find something indoors. But on the way there the sky was overcast, the temperature wasn’t too bad, and the humidity had dropped – so to the zoo we went!

David had a really good time, he really wanted to see the Lions more than anything. He also really enjoyed all of the fish in the tanks he got to gaze into.

The cats are always a hit too.

It was alot of fun watching David get so excited – his last visit was exactly 1 year ago when he couldn’t express himself so well.    Today he was sure to hop up for every exhibit, until he just got too tired near the end of the afternoon.  We knew he was tired when he told his “No, I don’t want to see more elephants…”

And for the first time we can remember, we actually got to see the penguins outside. These went over very well 🙂

  • Perfect Weather for a Trip to the Zoo

We couldn’t let a 70 degree day in mid July pass us by, so we took a drive down to the St. Louis Zoo this morning.  I’m still pulling in photos but I really like these two.

The one of all of us was taking by a stranger that kindly offered.  It took a few moments and fumbling to remember how I needed to set the camera up for someone else to use, turned out great though!

  • To the Zoo!

Given the final arrival of spring (or did we just skip to early summer?), we decided to take a day trip to the St. Louis Zoo.  So after eating breakfast, we loaded up the van and headed south.  Upon arrival, we were greeted by quite a bit of traffic in Forrest Park and lots of zoo-goers.  Not too surprising for such a nice day, but it still felt like parking at the Arch would have been closer.

David got to get up close and personal with a few of the animals, starting off with a few monkeys.  Good thing that glass was there – that monkey would have been missing a handful of hair if not.

After that encounter, he was on the lookout for animals!

We had lots of fun, and look forward to going back.  In fact, we purchased a family membership – so we WILL be going back.   More photos available.
